An excellent all round performance by Feroz Khan inspired PG Cricket Club to victory in their first match back in the Challenge League.
Playing newcomers Sporting, PGCC amassed a respectable 174 in their 30 overs, thanks mainly to Khan who struck a fluent 62. Other contributions came via Brendon (26), Rajiv (21) and Abdullah (14).
The Sporting bowlers tried their best with young Ebrahim Essop (2 for 24) and spinner Arthur Pillay (2 for 32) bowling well.
Sporting found the going tough when they returned after the short break, losing three quick wickets with only 3 runs on the board.
Some stability returned with Neil Tomlinson (13) and Myles Poole (16) but once they were dismissed only the veteran of Alitex fame, Mohamed Nassir (22) could withstand the PFCC attack.
Sporting eventually fell for 100 runs knowing fully well that hard work only will make them a combative and competitive unit.Mubeen Ismail (3 for 25), Abdullah (3 for 15) and Feroz (2 for 13) were the pick of the bowlers for PGCC who took home 4.64 points (Community Focus)
